I was listening to the inside HPC podcast from 2014 yesterday, and what caught my attention was the Russian ARM Baikal Chips, which are said to be replacing Intel / AMD CPUs. According to the Nikkei Shimbun, the de facto standard of HPC is shifting towards ARM based ones. I wonder if that’s really true or not… But either way, it will be energy efficient, but GFlops wise? Not sure.
